Throughout the year, the Club organises a diverse range of activities, from social paddling on regular Club nights to specialised courses such as beginner sessions, rolling courses, and sea kayaking skills. We also offer weekend day trips and overnight camping adventures.
Spring & Summer
During the spring and summer months, training takes place on Thursday evenings at various scenic locations along the beautiful River Stour, which forms the border between Suffolk and Essex in the heart of Constable Country. These sessions include introductory courses for beginners, formal training, and informal paddling events.
Autumn & Winter
As the colder months set in, we move indoors, running a varied programme at a local swimming pool. These sessions include rolling tuition, canoe polo, and other fun water-based activities. We also strive to secure additional indoor facilities for rolling and rescue technique training—plus some exciting water games!
Our Club & Community
We welcome paddlers of all interests and disciplines, including kayak and open canoe touring, recreational paddling, white-water, sea kayaking, surf kayaking, playboating, and even competitive racing. Our kayak racing team is active and always looking for new members.
Safety is a top priority, and all activities are led by fully qualified British Canoeing (BC) coaches. We take pride in maintaining high safety standards while ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone.
We are a friendly, family-oriented club. Because we don’t have a clubhouse to maintain, our membership costs remain very reasonable. We also host various social events throughout the year, where family and friends are always welcome.
Please note that while we cannot accommodate external groups, we warmly welcome individual members from any organisation.
