Paddling Trips

Local trips – During the year we run number of river trips. These can be on local rivers throughout East Anglia or occasionally we will venture slightly further. The types of trip range from a gentle 6 mile paddle of the River Stour to a 12+ mile paddle on one of the many tidal rivers in our area. Sometimes we just paddle to the nearest pub! Experienced paddlers will also meet and play on local weirs or, if the surf is up, take a trip to Felixstowe, Walberswick or Cromer.

Other activities include; canoe camping, estuary and sea paddling, racing, and visits to the whitewater courses at the River Nene at Northampton, the River Trent at Nottingham or the Lea Valley Park Olympic centre.

Weekends Trips – Based in Suffolk, we aren’t that close to whitewater, so we have to go away for a long weekend to Yorkshire, Devon or Wales. Once or twice a year we go to Matlock in Derbyshire or Symonds Yat on the River Wye which are great places for your first trip on moving water. We normally stay in indoor bunkhouse style accommodation.
Trips to Yorkshire either in Feb/March or the Autumn can take in rivers such as the Ure, Wharfe, Tees or Washburn. Our Welsh excursions are either to the Rivers Wye or Usk in the south, or the Conwy, Llugwy or Tryweryn in the north. In the warmer months we may camp but for the colder months our leaders are expert in finding indoor accommodation which can range from a village hall to a hostel.
